News that Greece is going to default on all of it's loans and obligations. If you think the ecconomy is bad now wait until this happens.
Germany (the US of Europe) is going to try to arrange loans to forestall or halt this default but can they do it? All eyes and ears will be listenng and watching. |

Greece is not going to fall. It is fallen already!
The only thing is for European leaders to have the guts and say this loud and clear. But Greece is a small issue in the big sheme of things. Whats next? - Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Italy and raising doubts about French banks. And no leader (Obama, Sarkozy, Merkel, Cameron ...) has any idea what to do next. They just have no answers and no vision. With exception of Julia Gilard of Australia. The only problem is that her vision is to destroy last standing economy of so called Western World. And she's doin pretty good job. Do you think that 2008 crisiss was bad? Now fasten your belt and get ready for the wild ride. I hope I'm wrong. But hope is a virtue of stupid people. |

No one wins if Greece goes under, but the European project will survive if Athens achieves real reform.

From late 2009, fears of a sovereign debt crisis developed among fiscally conservative investors concerning some European states, with the situation becoming particularly tense in early 2010 . This included euro zone members Greece , Ireland , Spain and Portugal and also some EU countries outside the area. Iceland , the country which experienced the largest crisis in 2008 when its entire international banking system collapsed has emerged less affected by the sovereign debt crisis as the government was unable to bail the banks out. In the EU, especially in countries where sovereign debts have increased sharply dueto bank bailouts, a crisis of confidence has emerged with the widening of bond yield spreads and risk insurance on credit default swaps between these countries and other EU members, most importantly Germany.
While the sovereign debt increases have been most pronounced in only a few euro zone countries they have become a perceived problem for the area as a whole. In May 2011, thecrisis resurfaced, concerning mostly the refinancing of Greek public debts. The Greek people generally reject the austerity measures and have expressed their dissatisfaction through angry street protests. In late June 2011, thecrisis situation was again brought under control with the Greek government managing to pass a package of new austerity measures and EU leaders pledging funds to support the country. Concern about rising government deficits and debt levels across the globe together with a wave of downgrading of European government debt created alarm in financial markets. On 9 May 2010, Europe's Finance Ministers approved a comprehensive rescue package worth €750 Billion (then almost a trillion dollars) aimed at ensuring financial stability across Europe by creating the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF). In 2010 the debt crisis was mostly centered on events in Greece, where the cost offinancing government debt was rising. On 2 May 2010, the eurozone countries and the International Monetary Fund agreed to a €110 billion loan for Greece, conditional on the implementation of harsh austerity measures. The Greek bail-out was followed by a €85 billion rescue package for Ireland in November, and a €78 billion bail-out for Portugal in May 2011. |

meriposa,
well, then call me stupid. Hope and Faith is all we have left. Obama is the worst President in the History of the United States and he is doing his best to make us a Socialist country and will not be satisfied until he does. From what has happened with the BATFE in Arizona Obama and Holder should be charged with accessory to Murder. |

7,
If you care to have a discussion about this subject I'd like to make a couple of suggestions: 1. Write what you have to say in Greek then have it translated into English and post it after that is done. 2. I remember when the Greek Govt had battles with the Communist Rebles and probably know more about the history of your Modern Government than you do so, go back to school and learn something that is relavant to this conversation other than your childish, ignorant rants. Thank you. |

7,
When I wrote you must be out of your mind I was referring to a person who is living in a country on the verge of ecconomic collapse. Instead of joining a website and jumping on a woman who happens to say she is not the person to whom you are referring. I, read your rants and happen to believe this lady over you. If I was living in Greece I'd be worried if I had enough food stocked up if there is a shortage, how much water do I need, toliet paper, fuel for cooking, heating, sterilizing water. Am I going to try to weather this collapse alone or get my family together so we will be stronger as 1 instead of being seperated. You have nothing to worry about the survival of yourself or your family, much less your country. So Now I am saying you are acting in a way that is in contradiction to the majority of people in your country. You are a fool, a coward and a sorry excuse for a man and I have nothing to do to prove this as a fact: Your actions already have. If you wish to accuse me of something akin to a war crime than you had better have the courage to may that accusation to my face. Something you will never do because you are a "Nameless Faceless Coward". You had better believe I fought in a war and I am a Professional Soldier which means I am a trained Professional Killer do not ever forget that fact. Do not accuse me of things you can not prove or slander my name or reputation. I will haul you ass to whatever court I have to and sue you for everything you have or ever hope to have. That is The "New" American Way. |

It appears that China is making overtures toward the Italian Government in an attempt to loan them the needed money in order to prevent an econommic collapse in that country.
There have been many protests against selling debt to china as it has collected debt from nearly every country in the world and fears of influence selling are nearly as many as the debt is large. The news agency did not report on the econommic problems of Greece but I would believe that China has offered Greece loans as well. I don't know if the elected government there is communist or not but I believe they have a paramentary govt and multiple parties run the govt so there may not be much influence to sell but Italy is a different story. |

It is heartening to note that Greece, one of the foundations of early civilization of the world along with its grandeur in the early days is now in deep economic turmoil on the verge of bankruptcy.
I agree with the opinion here that if Greece go on to fall, the world will be the loser and nobody becomes a winner. We hope that the on-going negotiations with the well-off countries for a possible bail out will result to a win win situation not just opportunistic acts or drama. Go Greece, Go stand up! -------------------- Plan your moves then move your plan...for moves without proper planning brings catastrophe!

In all reality, it is the banks and companies waiting for the government to back out of the business of trying to rung the Business of the World. It has been show that trying to "Spread the Wealth" only spreads poverty. I used to believe in the share the wealth mentality and then I got a job and grew up.
It has been shown, historically, that lower taxes on individuals and companies and Lower Regulations have led to higher tax revenues, higher individual wealth and less poverty. The bigges hurddle is Goverment Regulations. If those can have a moratorium place on them the econommy can recover. China coming in is great but, they manipulate their currency with more regularity than I can fill up my truck. President Obama needs to be the President of The United States of America not of the fractured elietist inteligencia of America. Old times are over and it is a time for Change, Mr. Obama. You are not my President until you OWN the Job. |
