Here's some really cool info about space and the telescope that took them.
Hubble & Spitzer Space TelescopesPlay Slideshow Pause Slow Med Fast Photo Gallery
Fri Apr 25, 1:47 AM ET Prev 1 of 25 Next NGC 6090 is a beautiful pair of spiral galaxies with an overlapping central region and two long tidal tails formed from material ripped out of the galaxies by gravitational interaction. The two visible cores are approximately 10,000 light-years apart, suggesting that the two galaxies are at an intermediate stage in the merging process. The Hubble image reveals bright knots of newborn stars in the region where the two galaxies overlap. The right hand component has a clear spiral structure if viewed face-on, while the other is seen edge-on with no spiral arms visible. NGC 6090 is located in the constellation of Draco, the Dragon, about 400 million light-years away from Earth. A number of fainter, and more distant, background galaxies is seen in the image. This system has much in common with the famous Antennae galaxies both in terms of how far the merger has progressed and in our viewing angle. This image is part of a large collection of 59 images of merging galaxies taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and released on the occasion of its 18th anniversary on April 24, 2008. (NASA, ESA, the Hubble Heritage Team - STScI/AURA-ESA/Hubble Collaboration, A. Evans - University of Virginia, Charlottesville/NRAO/Stony Brook University, and G. Ostlin - Stockholm University/Handout/Reuters)

Hi Paul, I saw pictures of this and heard about it too online. I think it is so beautiful. I just wonder what caused it to happen though. I love looking at outerspace pictures of all the galaxies and stars. I only wish I had a telescope to look through and see for myself. I bet it would be so great to see it. I can only imagine how astronauts feel when they see the whole universe from outerspace. I bet it is so amazing to see.
Hugs,

Hi Doll,
I could down load the pictures to my computer but then I would have to post them in my gallery. You're right, they are beautiful and magnificent pictures but they are so far out in space you'e have to be in space to see them.
One of the places I go camping is at the elevation of 7500 feet and with a good pair of binoculars or a telescope you wouldn't believe what you can see. One night I saw the horse head nebula! It was fantastic! If only I could get and attachment to hook my camera to the telescope I could take pictures but taking pictures of stars requires a time delay feature on the camera.
Try finding a mountain near where you live that doesn't get light from any city reflecting off the atmospere and you'll be amazed at what you can see. The higher the better.
Good luck on you searching the sky. In my next life I plan to be a "Rocket Man" and get to see them myself.

Hi Paul, Thanks and yes, I agree too that it is so very beautiful to see. I only wish that I did have a higher elevation around me to be able to see further into the sky. I guess I will have to make a trip to the mountains maybe in NC or somewhere else sometime and see what happens. I have been to a planetarium where they show you the galaxies and stars inside through telescopes; but that's when I was about 12 years old. It's been a very long time ago. It would be nice to actually see it for myself again sometime! Have a very great day and lots of fun too.
Hugs,

Can't you post some of them here, people? Such pics are worth to be demonstrated, of course if they aren't hardly copyrighted.

Maybe it would be better just to give a link. Such photos must be well copyritten but giving links is usually never prohibited. Anyway I'll be waiting for your Paul gallery update.

I'm going to try to copy and paste the web site address to this site. You can look at a great number of pictures and they are there to be down loaded to the public and are not protected by copywrite.

A great number of pictures to see. Enjoy.

Beautiful images Paul. Thanks for pointing them out to us.

Combined Spitzer-Hubble view of Messier 104, commonly known as the Sombrero galaxy because in visible light, it resembles the broad-brimmed Mexican hat.

Thank you domini,
I wish I had the talent that your tech guy has. I'd love to post the films of my air combat flying and let you all see them. I know some of you would think I am crazy.

What do you mean, Paul? Do you think it's a crazy idea to film such events, or do you mean we don't believe that you used to fly?)))
