quote "Vanessa" :
American depiction of prostitution is very negative. when ever it is spoken about it always involves a put down. and the names without dignity. Whore. Hooker. it's said with a negative tone then there is always a snigger afterwards and a laugh and it's said like a put down, like to be that is a low form of life. And when there is an actual prosititute in a film she is always dressed as the typical hooker looking worker (no offense to hookers- love a hooker-leave a trace).
I don't dress like that,if I did I'd get chased out of town. Need I not mention the way R'n'b singers speak of pro's or am i still not getting something, maybe i need to get in to my whore identity more. I want to provide my loveliness in America but i am a bit scarred of peoples mentality towards me. I am greatful to live in Australia. And also in American film and true life american crime prostitutes in america get killed by murderers and serial killers as sex workers who are illegal go unnoticed, undetected, very sad fact of life.
You're very correct when you mention that prostitution in America is viewed as being the lowest of low. I refuse to allow names like Whore, Hooker, to make me feel degraded in any way. I consider myself to be a Callgirl which in this country is basically a higher class Whore. More times than I can count I've defended myself to married women who do not work and ask me how I can be a Whore. To which I reply yes I do take money for sex. How do you explain yourself? You married a man and take money from him, live in his house and when he wants sex you give it to him and to me that qualifies you as a Whore also. I personally find no shame in being called Whore, Hooker, Callgirl, Prostitute or whatever, a name can only degrade you IF YOU ALLOW IT TOO.
The real tragedy though is the way law enforcement treats us. I've been beaten and raped and the incident was never investigated. A good friend of mine was murdered and the law enforcement had the attitude well she got what she deserved. NOW THAT'S THE REAL TRAGEDY!!!!!
As long as professional sex workers are viewed as lowlife trash prostitution will never be legalized in the U.S.
Now comes to mind a question. I wonder what skills Monica Lewinsky had besides the obvious one? What qualified her to work in the White House to begin with? My opinion is she was hired for exactly what she is famous for and nothing else. Do Americans look down upon her? I wonder how the general public feels about Monica?
