Well,

Since last year I have been feeling the sting of the now very rushed and informal holiday season. People dont care about the meaning behind the holiday. It is about family, thanks, and relaxing.

Now, all I see is our TV screens filled to the brim with Marketing tactics by big name companies getting us to spend money we dont have. Children expecting more expensive gifts. Many people working extra hours and becoming more stressed because companies are no longer family oriented, but just about bottom line. I am even hearing more complaints about the use of certain holiday words that have been an American tradition. I love everyone. Whether your black, white, purple, fat or thin. It does not make a difference. But if you have a different way of celebrating, then do so. Just dont try to take someone elses way of celebration to be wrong. I have heard of cases where people of different ethnic backgrounds are complaining about Christmas and Thanksgiving. What is that about? It just saddens my heart to see the Holiday season going right down the drain.

But dont get it twisted!!! This is soley my personal opinion.
Let me know what you think.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!
Kisses
Leyla

Hi there,
I believe that we all should be free to celebrate the way we all want to because that is a constitional right and freedom. Also, a person's personal beliefs should not be forced upon anyone else and everyone should be allowed to celebrate the holiday's as they want. Have a great evening everyone!
Take Care,Peace,&Kisses,

Its really getting to the point where store's cant say merry christmas any more. I think the message got lost along the way. Now its about greed and supply and demand. They make barely enough toys and hype the toy in advertising so every kid wants it but they make a limited amount so its a mad house of people trying to buy that very toy. And the prices have really went crazy on these toys. And also where has thanksgiving gone? It seems like they just skip over it like its not there anymore and focus on Dec 25th. People have christmas tree's up already and have you seen the store's?
Im a firm believer in freedom of speech but not being able to say merry christmas is just crazy its christs birthday, now I know some dont believe in christ and that's your right but it just seems the holiday's are just getting ruined. Merry Christmas has been around longer than any one of us have been. Im sure I might catch hell for this post and it truely isnt written to offend anyone I guess different cultures and different societies have different beliefs now days. To each their own I guess lol.

I have to agree. The Holidays have just become one big commercial nightmare. You have to realize that this time of the year is the make or break point for many businesses and it's a shame.
When I was a kid, clothes were the main gift, somthing that could be used every day. Of course, we got toys but not that many.
Family is the main thing to remember at this time of year and what it stands for. I know many religions don't practice Christmas and in many European Countries, New Year's Day is the big Holiday.
My birthday is New Year's Day and to me, it's no big thing. Wasn't even a reson to get drunk. I did that every day! LOL
